Spain used to share Portugal time zone but changed to the German one during WWII due to affinities between regimes. Looking at your watch, we have lunch at 2pm, but if I call someone in UK or Portugal on the phone at that moment, they very well may be starting their lunch at 1pm. So we have lunch at the same time checking on the Sun, not the clock. Things happen late in Spain but not as far late as the watches say. If we go back to our natural time zone, something tells me we will carry on following the Sun, not the clocks.
